Frontenacs acquire Max Jones from Knights for Sergey Popov and Priority Selections

The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired forward Max Jones from the London Knights for second-year forward Sergey Popov, Kingston’s 2nd round selection in 2023, and Kingston’s 3rd round selection in 2021 of the OHL Priority Selection.

“We thank Sergey for his time as a Kingston Frontenac, he will be have the chance to continue to develop as a member of London Knights,” said General Manager Darren Keily.

Jones, a 6’3”, 210 lbs. Orion, Michigan native, was the 1st round draft pick, 24th overall, of the Anaheim Ducks in 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected by the London Knights in the 1st round, 18th overall, in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. Jones was a member of the 2018 Team USA Bronze Medal team. He was a member of the 2016 Memorial Cup-winning London Knights. In 121 regular season games played in the OHL with London, Jones has 63 goals, 46 assists for 109 points. His OHL playoff experience includes 20 games, with 8 goals and 6 assists.

“Max is another important addition to the Frontenacs to make our team better and his championship-winning experience will be a great addition to the room and on the ice”, said Keily. “We are thrilled to add him to our team.”

The Kingston Frontenacs travel to St. Catharines to face the Niagara IceDogs this afternoon before returning home to face the Guelph Storm on Friday and Oshawa Generals on Saturday at Rogers K-Rock Centre.
